Description
Lucky Debonair was the third consecutive runner to claim the Kentucky Derby after securing a Blue Grass win. The betting favorite, piloted by Bill Shoemaker (up), bested Swift Ruler by 1/2 length. Shoemaker’s Derby victory the following week was the Racing Hall of Famer’s third after his 1955 (Swaps) and 1959 (Tomy Lee) wins.
