This photograph shows Tomy Lee in Keeneland’s paddock before the Blue Grass in 1959. Bred in England and owned by Texans Fred Turner Jr. and his wife Juliette, Tomy Lee, piloted by Bill Shoemaker, broke a track record in Keeneland’s Forerunner Stakes before notching his Blue Grass win. The pair claimed the Kentucky Derby the following week.
