This photograph of the American Thoroughbred Citation was taken during a workout at Santa Anita Park.
The Calumet Farm legend claimed the Triple Crown in 1948. In that same year, Citation was awarded U.S. Champion Three-Year-Old Colt, DRF Champion Male Handicap Horse, and U.S. Horse of the Year. He was inducted into the U.S. Racing Hall of Fame in 1959.
