This photograph features (from left to right) Alfred Gwynne "A.G." Vanderbilt, Jr., jockey John Gilbert, and Thoroughbred owner Ogden Phipps at the 1941 Withers Stakes at Belmont Park.

King Cole, owned by Phipps and ridden by Gilbert, claimed the 1941 Withers Stakes victory.

Vanderbilt, owner of Sagamore Farm, was a founding member of the Westchester Racing Association, owner and two time president of Pimlico Race Course, President of Belmont Park, a member of the Jockey Club, and Chairman of the Board of the New York Racing Association from 1971 to 1975.
