Keeneland Sales 2004
Horse racing in art
Peb's caricature/humorist artwork depicts Nick Nicholson, president of the Keeneland Association from 2000 through 2012, and W. Rogers Beasley with the Keeneland Sales “cradle” of 2004.
When Peb created this piece, Beasley had just assumed his new position as Director of Racing, and Geoffrey Russell was the newly named Director of Sales. In the version of this piece printed in the Daily Racing Form, Peb inserted Russell’s caricature over that of Beasley to reflect the recent change of positions.
