Raise a Native (by Native Dancer out of Raise You) was bred by Happy Hill Farm in Newtown Township, Pennsylvania. Trained by Hall of Famer Burley Parke, Raise a Native claimed the title of Turf and Sport Digest American Champion Two-Year-Old Colt in 1963 and held an undefeated four-start record in which he set or met track records in three of those races before sustaining a career-ending tendon injury.
Raise a Native was purchased by Spendthrift Farm in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1963 where he began his renowned stud career. Regarded as one of the most influential American Thoroughbred sires, Raise a Native sired 78 stakes winners, including Mr. Prospector, Alydar, Majestic Prince, and Exclusive Native.
