Description
The Arlington Million was the first U.S. Thoroughbred race to offer a purse of $1 million.
Arlington Park closed in 1998 and was purchased by Churchill Downs Incorporated in 2000. Depicted in this parody of the Broadway musical Chicago are Churchill Downs CEO Thomas H. Meeker and Richard Duchossois, prior owner of Arlington Park.
Racehorses Manndar, Mula Gula, Asidero, Bienamado, Running Stag, Slickly, and Chester House are also featured.
Juddmonte Farm's Chester House, ridden by Jerry Bailey and trained by Robert J. Frankel, won the renewal of the Arlington Million in 2000.
