This photograph features the Brooklyn Handicap at the old Aqueduct Racetrack in 1917. The jockey, William "Willie" Knapp, is up on Borrow. Borrow ran the 1-1/8 mile race in 1:49-2/5, setting a new American record. Frank Robinson is up on Regret who came in second, while D. Connolly is up on Old Rosebud, who came in third.

Alydar placed second in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont Stakes in 1978, while Davona Dale was the 1979 U.S. Filly Triple Crown winner and American Champion Three-Year-Old Female Horse.

Peb's caricature/humorist artwork depicts racehorse Fit to Fight, 1984 Eclipse Award contender for Outstanding Older Male Horse, with trainer MacKenzie Miller and owner Paul Mellon. Mellon’s Rokeby Stables is depicted in Miller’s sweatshirt.
Fit to Fight became the fourth horse in history to win the New York Handicap Triple, joining U.S. Racing Hall of Fame inductees Whisk Broom II, Tom Fool, and Kelso.
