1970s
Keeneland introduced changes in the 1970s, including replacing the wooden structure of the original Grandstand with steel and concrete in 1976. A new Press Box was added the following the year, along with the Lexington Room for dining. The Grandstand and Clubhouse entrances were also renovated in 1977.
New barns were constructed in 1978, and the tote board in the infield was replaced before the Fall Meet that same year. In 1979, Keeneland became the first track in Kentucky to adopt the AmTote 300 Series Totalisator System, known as ABC, which allowed patrons to bet or cash out at any window.
