Title A name given to the resource Ribot Subject The topic of the resource Photography of horse sports Description An account of the resource Conformation photograph of the internationally renowned Thoroughbred Ribot taken with groom at Lexington, Kentucky’s Darby Dan Farm in August of 1960. Ribot, foaled in 1952 at the English National Stud in Suffolk, was bred by the prominent Italian breeder Federico Tesio. He retired to stud after an extraordinary undefeated sixteen-race career, with victories spanning a variety of distances, tracks, and countries. Ribot spent a year at stud at Lord Derby’s in England before being syndicated for a five-year $1.35 million lease by Darby Dan Farm. He remained in the United States until his death in 1972. Ribot is buried in the equine cemetery at Darby Dan.
