Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith pilots Prairie Bayou to victory in the 1993 Blue Grass Stakes. Prairie Bayou, who would become Champion Three-Year-Old Male, finished second in the Kentucky Derby before winning the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico in his next start.

Prairie Bayou finished second in the Kentucky Derby in 1993 and was fatally injured in the Belmont Stakes. He was posthumously named American Champion Three-Year-Old Male in 1993.
